Clubs & Activities

The Lower and Middle School Choirs will begin Monday, 9/14 (6th – 8th grade) and Wednesday, 9/16 (3rd – 5th grade), from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in the auditorium. Choir is open to all Greenfield students in 3rd – 8th grades. 

Both Lower and Middle School Choirs will perform at a Winter Concert (December 21st @ 9 a.m.) and a Spring Concert (May date and time TBD). Parents are welcome to attend these concerts and must follow School District of Philadelphia visitor policies and procedures.

Art Club is back with Ms. Mowery this fall for Middle School (6th, 7th, 8th Grade)! Student Voice is an after-school club for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who want to lead, serve, and make a difference and is led by Mr. Neary. Over the years, the members of Student Voice have organized a number of great events like The World of Change coin collection, Canned Food Drives for Philabundance, Student Swap Day, School Play Day, and the Student vs. Staff Game Show.

Now it’s your chance to share your ideas, get involved, and get creative by designing service projects and leading schoolwide events. If you’re interested, please attend the first meeting on Tuesday, September 30th at 3:00 in Room 310.

The Debate Team is for 7th and 8th grade students and is led by Mr. Staab, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher.

Students will learn important skills that will help them with gathering research, crafting & defending arguments, and understanding the implications of their arguments. Additionally, students will be exposed to a variety of current events and perhaps most importantly gain confidence in themselves and their speaking.

Interested 7th and 8th graders are welcome to attend an informational meeting, which will be announced by Mr. Staab.

Join the Greenfield Chess & Board Games Club!

Led by Mr. Neary, this club is a welcoming extracurricular activity where students gather to play tabletop games, build friendships, and develop critical thinking skills away from screens. Our goal is to foster social interaction, sportsmanship, and strategic problem-solving through cooperative and competitive play.

Students in grades 4–8 will meet weekly on Thursdays from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM in room 310.

How to Join? Attend the first meeting on Thursday, October 1st.

Attention 5th-8th grade students who love creative writing! Join our after-school club to develop Greenfield’s literary magazine! Whether you enjoy writing stories, poetry, or editing others’ amazing work, you’ll gain experience in the online publishing of student writers. This club will meet on the first and second Wednesday of every month from 3-4 p.m. Starts in October.

Students in grades 5–8 are invited to join the Ultimate Frisbee Club with Mr. Jakob! The club begins September 16 and meets Wednesdays and Fridays after school until 4:30 p.m.Students will walk to and from the Penn Park with Mr. Lehmann. Permission slips will be sent home with dismissal options. If interest is high, space may be limited. Questions? Email jlehmann@philasd.org.

The newly minted Mahjong Club is open to 3rd through 8th graders and will be held Wednesdays from 3 – 4p.m. starting October 14. Students will learn strategy, pattern recognition, and build fast mental math skills all while engaging in friendly competition. If your student is interested, have them see Ms. Katzer in Room 313.

Greenfield is starting a Middle School MathCounts team this year! Join us for problem solving, teamwork, and math competition preparation!
