What's the Role of a School Advisory Council (SAC)?

A School Advisory Council (SAC) is a peer-elected, collaborative team that works to improve student achievement, effective teaching in the classroom, and parent and community engagement in the educational process. Each school’s SAC is unique in its composition and the way it functions. Read more about the role of SAC here.

Greenfield SAC Goals and Objectives

This year’s theme for SAC is: Strengthening School Culture & Communication

Our goals for the year are to:

  • Support In- and Outside of the Classroom
    • We’re asking: How can SAC better serve as a liaison between parents and teachers?
  • Strengthen School Climate & Culture
    • We’re committed to: Helping to foster an inclusive and socially just school climate and culture where every student feels like they belong.
  • Enhance Communication & Engagement
    • We’re working on: Reimagining and raising awareness around the role and purpose of SAC at Greenfield.

Who serves on the School Advisory Council?

SAC is a peer elected group of family members, teachers, staff and principal who work together to make improvements to the school.

Learn more and get involved!

SAC formally meets four times during the school year.

  • Save the dates: September 27th, December 13th, March 7th, and May 9th
  • Location: The Library at 2:15pm

We also plan to hold informal meetings and events throughout the year and will be sharing news and resources in the HSA newsletter.

Help us spread the word to others who might want to get involved:

One of the ways that SAC is helping to strengthen the school community is by calling on/working with/holding up individuals in the community!

There are so many parents, guardians, and caregivers who have cool professions, unique interests, and fascinating backgrounds and experiences. We want to create an internal SAC document that we could use to connect parents, guardians, and caregivers in our community with teachers (and/or other staff members in the building) if there is an upcoming unit, project, etc. where their skills and expertise could enhance students’ learning and experience.

If you’re interested in sharing your information, please fill this form out: Greenfield Parent/Guardian Professional & Experiential Info.
